KARACHI: Conflicting policies

KARACHI, Oct 19: The KDA’s anti-encroachment staff faced resistance from residents and shopkeepers in Gulistan-i- Jauhar owing to conflicting policies of the Faisal Cantonment Board.

According to officials of the anti-encroachment cell, Shah Faisal Cantt had issued licences to cabins and shopkeepers extending on footpaths in different blocks of Gulistan-i-Jauhar falling in the jurisdiction of the cantonment.

This move caused resentment among the shopkeeper of other blocks of the area falling under KDA’s jurisdiction, who demanded similar treatment instead of destruction of their extension or cabins as being done by the KDA.—PPI
