Asif extended by Imran

LAHORE, Oct 18: Nine matches were decided in the opening round of the mens’ singles event of the fourth All Pakistan Badminton Cup at the New Khan courts Wednesday.

Except one, all the other matches were two setters.

Asif Husain was extended in beating Imran Laeeq in all- Lahore affairs after losing the first set 13-15. However, he staged a comeback and won the remaining two sets 15-12, 15-11.

The results:

Asif Hussain bt Imran Laeeq 13-15, 15-12, 15-11, Imran Mohib bt Mohammad Naveed 15-4, 15-5, Faisal Afzal bt Umar Rabbani 15-4, 15-4, Atiq bt Nadeem 15-3, 15-2, Aamir Islam Faraz bt Faraz 15-3, 15-3, Ahsan Qamar bt Faizan 15-5, 15-6, Azhar Javed bt Nadeem Shahzad 15-2, 15-6, Asif Beg bt Mahboob Ahmad 17-14, 15-13, Mohammad Shafique bt Abdul Wadood 15-7, 15-5.

The tournament was to be concluded on Oct 21 but it has been extended till Oct 23 because of heavy number of entries  received by the organisers.
