Pacer Kashif rips through Badin


KARACHI, Oct 18: Fiery left arm Mirpurkhas paceman Kashif Pervez pushed Badin close to follow-on on the opening day of their second round of Quaid-i-Azam Cricket Trophy Grade-II tie at KCCA Stadium Thursday.

Kashif scalped five batsmen for 23 runs in 11 overs to reduce Badin to 101 for seven in their first innings in reply to Mirpurkhas first innings total of 215 for seven wickets in 65 overs of the first innings.

Badin needed another 15 runs to avoid the follow-on with three wickets intact. Muhammad Yasir hit a defiant 60 off 64 balls laced with six hits to the boundary and three sixes for Badin.

Ahmed Nawaz topscored for Mirpurkhas with 63 off 106 ball which included a solitary boundary. Shafiq Turk was the pick of Badin bowling attack finishing with five wickets for 62 runs in 18 overs.

QUETTA AMASS 305


At Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Regional Academy at National Stadium Quetta collected massive 305 for eights wickets in restricted 65 overs of the first innings after being sent to bat first by Turbat.

By stumps in the two-day match Turbat were reeling at 92 for eight wickets in 40 overs in their first innings, still needing another 133 runs to save the follow-on.

Left arm pacer Muhammad Khan cause the damage in Turbat’s batting ranks with three wickets for 15 runs in 12 overs. Left arm spinner Mohtashim Rasheed chipped in with two for 20.

Quetta number three batsman Sabir Hussain was a bit unlucky to miss his century when he fell for 91. Sabir struck seven fours and a six after occupying the crease for 157 minutes and facing 123 deliveries.

Sabir added 104 runs for the second wicket with Aqil Baloch, who hit one four in his 46. Naseer Khan made an enterprising undefeated 67 off just 53 balls which contained a six and six boundaries.

JURIAL STRIKES AGAIN


KARACHI: Naseerabad pacer Jurial Khan produced another sterling bowling performance to give his team upper hand against Kalat in the Quaid-e-Azam Cricket Trophy Grade-II match at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium Thursday.

Jurial took another haul of five wickets for 59 runs in 17 overs as Kalat electing to bat first, were skittled out for 174 in 54.5 overs.

By close of play on the first-day in the two-day match, Naseerabad responded by reaching 128 for four wickets in 46 overs. Umaid Ali 15 and Abdul Nabi with one were at the crease at the close.

Muhammad Ali scored a patience half century, hitting three fours and a six in his 58 after 136 minutes for Naseerabad. Muhammad Ali and Talib Hussain put on 77 runs for the third wicket after openers Faiz Muhammad and Maqsood Shah went with just 15 runs scored.

Earlier, Abdul Haq hit a fighting 53 for Kalat in 82 minutes with two boundaries and a six. Jahanzeb made 43 with two hits to the ropes. Tariq Shah made 24 and was associated in 63 runs second wicket partnership with Abdul Haq.

Jurial got good support from spinners Bashir Ahmed and Talib Hussain who shared four wicket between them.

LARKANA TAKES LEAD


HYDERABAD: Larkana succeeded in taking a first innings lead against Sukkur on the first of the two- day match of Quaid- e- Azam Trophy Grade-II tie here at Niaz Stadium Thursday.

Batting first, Sukkur was bundled out at 127 in 43.5 overs as a result of superb bowling of Abdul Rahim and Abdul Sattar. Only Mushtaq Ahmed batted with confidence in making 45 while Aqueel Ahmed 27 and Mumtaz Ali 18 were the other leading scorers.

Abdul Raheem clinched four wickets off just 11 runs while Abdul Sattar secured two for 39. Mazhar Ali also claimed two wickets at the cost of 33 runs.

At the end of first day’s play, Larkana made 133 runs losing five wickets in 50 overs. Abdul Raheem and Ali Nawaz scored 28 runs each while Khadim Hussain and Muhammed Siddiq were at the crease with 16 and 15 runs respectively. Shafih Muhammed took two wickets for 30 and Abdul Samad bagged two for 33.

Naeem Mirza stroked 71 to help Azad Jammu and Kashmir pile up 286 for eight in their first innings against Jhelum at KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi.
