Dacoits on the rampage

KASUR, Oct 18: Dacoits looted cash and gold ornaments and drove away with a tractor in different incidents here on Thursday.

Some 12 dacoits burst into Akbar Ali’s house in Haveli Korianwali, locked the inmates in a room at gunpoint and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs450,000.

In another incident, five armed men decamped with cash, jewellery, a TV set, a gun and a pistol worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from Irfan Ahmad’s house in Kotli Pathanwali village. They also tortured the inmates before leaving.

Six dacoits, including Muhammad Ali and others, drove away with Khushi Muhammad’s tractor (KSA-6520) near Chah Noorianwali village, Bhila Hithar.

SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide by setting herself ablaze in nearby Kambowan village on Thursday.

Amna Bibi set herself on fire when her father-in-law reprimanded her over a minor issue.

In Kot Salamatpura, Kasur city, one Ishrat Bibi sustained critical burns in a stove burst while cooking. She was taken to hospital where she died.

Shamim Bibi, who had sustained critical burn injuries, was shifted to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
