MITHI, Oct 18: The members of Parent-Teacher Association and the people of Mithi have appealed to the Sindh governor, the corps commander and the education secretary to get vacated five classrooms and halls of North Colony Boys High School, Mithi.

Since 1988, an office of the education works department has been functioning in the classrooms and the halls. Consequently, hundreds of urban as well as rural students remain deprived of admissions to this school.

The headmaster of the school told this correspondent on Thursday that a large number of students remained deprived of admissions to the school every year because of the shortage of classrooms, which had been occupied by the education works department set up its office.

The occupation of the classrooms had caused great harm to secondary education in the town, he said.

He further said that the classrooms could accommodate about 200 students.

“We would be able to run five more classes if the authorities concerned get the classrooms vacated”, he added.

There are 414 students and 21 teachers in the school. Ten classes— three for class VI, two for VII, two for VIII, two for IX and one for X— are conducted in the school. The school does not have any laboratory, library and computer or teachers room.

Though the district administration as well as other authorities have repeatedly been moved through the Parent-Teachers Association to direct the education works department to shift its office from the school premises and vacate the classrooms, but in vain.

REPAIR DEMANDED: The notables of Thar and the people of the Diplo town have demanded of government authorities to take immediate measures for the repair and reconstruction of 40-km-long Mithi-Diplo Road, which is in dilapidated condition.
