Three PIA flights cancelled

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Oct 18: The PIA’s flight PK-401 for Karachi, scheduled to take-off at 8am on Thursday, was cancelled due to operational reasons.

Flights PK-222 and PK-256 scheduled to land at Lahore from Dubai at 7:25am and from Abu Dhabi at 1:25am on Friday were also cancelled.

HOSPITAL: The Unicef has re-certified Sir Ganga Ram Hospital as ‘baby-friendly’ after a formal appraisal by external assessors.

The announcement was made at a function at the hospital on Thursday.

Sir Ganga Ram Hospital was the first in the province to be certified as a Baby-friendly Hospital in 1992 for adopting 10 steps for optimum breast-feeding practices.

The hospital continues to train its doctors and nurses serving in the obstetrics and gynaecology, preventive paediatrics and paediatrics departments about the breast-feeding practices.

The external assessors had randomly interviewed 10 mothers each, in obstetrics and gynaecology outdoor and indoor departments and 10 doctors and 10 nurses to assess the breast-feeding practices.

Unicef, Punjab, programme officer Bijaya Ranjbhindari, and health service director-general Dr Yaqoob Jafar were among the speakers on the occasion.
