PFF under fire

Published October 18, 2001

KARACHI, Oct 17: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Wednesday came under bitter criticism by a former FIFA referee for destroying the sport, corruption and telling blatant lies.

Ahmad Jan, in a statement said, the PFF, despite receiving $one million from FIFA has not spent a single penny on the promotion of the game. Neither the Football House has been build nor the football academy has been established, he said.

He said PFF organized the national championship, country’s premier event, at an inadequate venue in Quetta and earned Rs700,000 but showed Rs60,000 as losses.

He added that the announcement by the PFF secretary, Agha Liaquat, was nothing but a bundle of lies that an American team would visit Pakistan this year.

An international tournament which was scheduled to be held in Quetta was also not staged despite finalizing the dates of the event, he lamented.
