Education atop Nazim’s priority

FAISALABAD, Oct 17: District Nazim Chaudhry Zahid Nazir said on Wednesday quality education was the top priority of the district government.

To this end, he said, computer training centres were being set up in all colleges in the district and the syllabi revised.

The Nazim was addressing the prize distribution ceremony of the Police Public School.

SSP Tasadduq Husain Chaudhry and CIA SP Raja Munawwar were also present on the occasion.

The Nazim said the district government was filling the vacancies in schools and colleges, purging the examination system of malpractice and improving facilities at educational institutions.

Earlier, students delivered speeches and presented tableaux, national songs, a fency dress show and skits. The Nazim also distributed prizes and certificates among distinguished students.

MODEL SCHOOLS: Multi-purpose laboratories and mathematics resource rooms were being provided at 10 higher secondary schools in the district at a cost of Rs7 million, the Works Division executive engineer said.

He said tenders had already been invited for the purpose and after assignmetn of contract the job would be completed within three months.

The schools benefiting from the project include: Government Zia Girls High School, Samanabad; Government Girls High School No 1 and Govt Girls High School, Gulistan Colony. The rural schools where the facilities would be provided include the Government High School, Jaywala; the Government High School, Chak 202 RB; the Government Higher Secondary School, Khurarrianwala; the Government Higher Secondary School, Chak 72 GB, the Government Girls Higher Secondary Schools, 39 GB and the Government Higher Secondary School, Chak Jhumra.

The XEN said Rs1.6 million would be spent on repair and maintenance of the district and central jails.
