No US troops in Balochistan: Mengal

Published October 18, 2001

QUETTA, Oct 17: Amid reports of American troops landing at the Pasni airport, Governor Amirul Mulk Mengal has categorically denied presence of any US Army man in Balochistan.

Speaking at a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that, so far, Balochistan’s soil was not being used for attacking Afghanistan.

“No American soldier has landed in Balochistan,” Justice Mengal retired said adding that all reports in this connection were baseless. “I have not received any information about handing over of Balochistan’s coastal airport at Pasni to the US”, he said.

He said Pakistan did not overact in extending support to the US in attacking Afghanistan, nor had any missiles landed or exploded in Pakistan.

He said six injured Afghans were brought to Daldandin and two of them were shifted to Quetta. They were injured in a blast in Baracha area of Hilmand province in Afghanistan and Pakistani authorities allowed them to cross into Pakistan for treatment, he said.
