KARACHI, Oct 17: A policeman, deputed on guard duty at the Gulshan-i-Iqbal residence of the district judge Badin, was shot dead on Wednesday.

Police said two armed men, riding on a motorcycle, opened fire on the policeman, Syed Dildar Husain Shah, who was sitting beside the main entrance of the residence of Syed Aly Maqbool Jafri, district judge Badin, in Block-1 of Gulshan-i-Iqbal.

The policeman was hit by several bullets and died on the spot. He was from the Badin police and deputed at the judge’s residence on guard duty. The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy.

Police said the assailants were not after the judge’s life as he was in Badin, and only his family were here in the house. A police official said the assailants targeted the policeman, and it appeared to be a sectarian killing.
