HYDERABAD, Oct 16: A meeting held here on Tuesday, which was presided over by district Hyderabad Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman, discussed the problems of the cotton growers.
The office bearers of Sindh Abadgar Board and Sindh Chamber of Agriculture and officials of Agriculture Department attended the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting the Nazim said that the government had decided to set up export zones at district level for the export of vegetables and fruits.
He stressed the need for establishing an export zone office at Hyderabad.
He said that the data about fruits and vegetables should be collected and foreign markets should be explored for the export of fruits and vegetables.
Makhdoom informed the meeting that the government had allocated huge funds for the repair and lining of water courses in the province and added that Hyderabad district must do advance planning for this purpose.
Those who attended the meeting included Syed Qamaruzzaman Shah, Mir Murad Ali Khan Talpur, Mohammad Nawaz Shah and senior officials of the Agriculture Department.
HESCO: The maintenance and testing teams of Hyderabad electric supply company (Hesco) during random checking of 1,470 meters in Hyderabad and Nawabshah during September detected theft from 537 connections.
According to a Hesco spokesman, theft was detected from 364 domestic connections, 135 commercial, 18 industrial and 16 agricultural connections while the speed of 223 meters was found to be slow.
CASE LODGED: The Market police have lodged a case against Sipah-i-Sahaba (SSP) activist, Irfan s/o Shahbuddin, and some unknown people under sections 147, 148, 149, 427, and 436 PPC and 7-B of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) after a Hesco vehicle (GP-957-586) belonging to Sarfaraz sub-division was torched in their area.
The case was lodged on the complaint of the Assistant Line Superintendent.
The SSP activist has been arrested.
