KARACHI, Oct 15: The convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s coordination committee, Dr Imran Farooq, has criticised acts of violence in the city during the strike on Monday.

In a statement from London, Dr Imran deplored the incidents of hooliganism and ransacking of government assets and public properties.

He said that damaging the railway station, police kiosks, vehicles, shops and government offices was neither a part of jihad nor it was in the interest of the country.

He expressed the view that absence of any action against the religious or jihadi bodies, which, according to him, were involved in subversive activities, showed that the government agencies were patronizing those organizations.

On the other hand, he said, the country, particularly Karachi, was being ruined in the name of Afghanistan.
