LARKANA, Oct 14: The strike by the sanitary workers over the non-payment of salaries since the last two months led to sewage flowing on the roads on Sunday.
Sewage can be seen flowing in many areas of the city including Bank Square Road, Massan Road, Qadri Mohalla, Aligoharabad, Lahori Mohalla, and VIP Road.
The new municipal administration despite commitment had not cleared the dues of the municipal staff including the sanitary workers.
Sources in the Larkana Municipal Corporation (LMC) said that the LMC was always receiving lesser and lesser funds from the Sindh Government since at least a year as a result of which it had been unable to pay salaries.
They further said that the majority of heavy machinery, including motors, installed at pumping stations were out of order, which the LMC was unable to fix due to the shortage of funds.
