Accidents claim three lives

SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 14: Three persons were killed and 20 others injured in two road accidents here on Sunday.

Two friends, Sarwar and Afzal, of Farooqabad were going on a motorcycle when a speeding bus hit them near Kot Sondha on the Sargodha Road, some 22km away from here. Both the friends died on the spot.

Farooqabad Saddar police have registered a case against the absconding bus driver.

In another accident which took place near Jewanpura, a Faisalabad-bound bus collided head-on with a truck. One Jamil Ahmad died instantly while 20 others sustained injuries. The injured were taken to local hospitals. Four of the injured identified as Allah Ditta, Aslam, Muhammad Husain and six-year-old Arum were shifted to the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, due to their precarious condition.

SHOT DEAD: One Faqir Husain, a resident of nearby Chappa Minara village, was shot dead allegedly by the rival party on Sunday.

Saddar police are investigating.

SHOOTOUT: One person was killed while two others were injured in an exchange of fire between two parties in Beerwala near Safdarabad on Sunday.

Aslam and Ghulam Husain had an old rivalry over a piece of land. On Sunday, some eight men of both the groups exchanged fire as a result of which Ghulam Husain died instantly while two others sustained bullet injuries.
