MULTAN, Oct 14: The government should ensure the availability of canal water to farmers at tails.

This was stated at a meeting of office-bearers of the Communist Mazdoor Kisan Party of south Punjab districts here on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by Rajanpur CMKP president Abdul Rahim.

They urged the government to provide farmers electricity diesel, pesticides and seeds on subsidized rates.

They voiced their concern that farmers were not receiving due prices for their products. They held the government and hoarders responsible for this sorry state of affairs.

Those who attended the meeting, include Zaheer Ahmed, Nazeer Ahmed Khalid Baidar, Ghulam Akbar, Ghulam Fareed, Abdul Majeed, Muhammad Islam and Mehfooz Khan.

ASP Javed Shah told newsmen that police arrested dacoits Muhammad Iqbal and Ijaz Hussain and recovered four motorcycles, seven buffaloes, three pistols and a gun from their possession.

He said that Muhammad Saeed, Khalid Jameel, Nadeem, M Abdullah, M Arshad and Shakir Abbas were held on the charge of drug-trafficking.—Nouman
