Kidnapped Edhi driver Back home

SADIQABAD, Oct 14: A driver of Edhi Centre at Bahadarpur Chowk, kidnapped some 17 days ago, reached home on Sunday.

According to Muhammad Ramazan, he had gone to Sui on Sept 27 to leave a patient there. On return, three armed men on a motorcycle intercepted him about five kms from Sui. They asked him to ‘rest’ on the stretcher. A dacoit sat beside him, the other drove the vehicle and the third followed on the motorcycle.

The dacoits continued the drive the whole night and parked the ambulance in the mountains in the morning. They took Ramazan on the motorcycle to another place and kept him confined there for 13 days. They also deprived him of Rs700, a wrist watch and some documents.

Ramazan said that on Oct 9, the dacoits left one of their accomplice on guard and went somewhere on a pick up. On his repeated requests, the dacoit allowed him to flee. He walked the whole day in the mountains. In the night, he found a hut and sought help from the occupants. He stayed there for the night. In the morning, the hut owner took him to the road from where a truck driver took him to Dera Ghazi Khan. He contacted his colleagues by phone who arranged transportation for him to reach Rahim Yar Khan.
