MULTAN, Oct 14: As many as 150 organizations of traders of the south Punjab will observe strike on Monday (today) against the US air strikes on Afghan citizens.

This was stated at a meeting of office-bearers of different trade bodies here on Sunday.

Salman Sidiqui, who presided the meeting, termed the bombing an act of state terrorism. He urged the government to play its role in preventing the US from massacring the Afghans.

The organizations whose members attended the meeting included Chambers of Small Traders, south Punjab, Anjuman-i-Tajraan, Cantonment, National Trader’s Alliance, south Punjab, and cloth market.

FAISALABAD: Almost all religious parties and local trade bodies have backed Monday’s strike call in protest against US attack on Afghanistan.

Rallies and protest demonstrations have been planned in the six tehsils of the district.

At a meeting here on Sunday, representatives of All Pakistan Anjuman Tajiran, JI, SSP, JUP, PML, Defence of Afghan Council, Anjuman Talba-i-Islam and Jamaat Ahle Hadith Pakistan decided that protest demonstrations would be held at Clock Tower intersection daily till halt in the US-led operation against Afghanistan.

By another resolution, the meeting asked President Musharraf not to change the foreign policy of Pakistan on Afghanistan just to appease America.

The meeting termed the present policy of the government anti-Islam and anti-democratic, and vowed to launch a struggle against US and its allies.

The meeting expressed its full support for the Taliban and announced to provide food and other material to the refugees.

GUJRANWALA: Local leaders and activists of religious parties formed the ‘Defence Afghanistan Council’ unit in city and elected its office-bearers at a meeting here on Sunday.

The meeting condemned the attack on Afghanistan and decided to observe “a complete strike” in Gujranwala on Monday (today).
