HYDERABAD, Oct 14: An inquiry has been initiated against former manager of the National Savings Centre, Hyderabad, Syed Ishtiaque Ali Zaidi, by the FIA, Hyderabad, after a complaint was filed by a widow who claimed that Mr Zaidi had allegedly cheated her.
Ms Abida Parveen, widow of Qazi Shoaib Azam, and resident of house No773/3, G-Ward, Domanwah road, submitted a written application to the Assistant Director, FIA, Hyderabad, which has been forwarded to Inspector Shafi M Kalwar for investigation.
The complainant claimed that she had deposited Rs200,000 in the court building branch of the National Savings Centre with Mr Ziadi to obtain regular income certificates as her husband had died and she wanted a regular amount to meet her daily requirements in the house.
She said that despite her insistence, Mr Zaidi had given her special certificates instead of regular certificates with official stamps.
She claimed that she was assured by Mr Zaidi that she would be given Rs8,000 per month in lieu of the special certificates.
Mr Zaidi obtained her special certificates and told her that he would send the same to Islamabad for ensuring that she should get Rs8,000 regularly.
She pointed out that only for two months she was given Rs8,000. When she made queries with the National Savings Centre official, she came to know that no account of hers existed there. Inspector Kalwar wrote to the branch concerned of the National Savings Centre. The joint director had informed that he could obtain records concerning the woman.
After completion of the inquiries, a criminal case would be registered against the then manager of the Savings Centre.
Inspector Kalwar of the FIA, Hyderabad circle, claimed that a similar case was pending against Mr Zaidi which was lodged by the then assistant director, Noor M Khan, on the complaint of Advocate Abdul Ghafoor.
