PESHAWAR, Oct 14: Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, Amir Jamaat-i-Islami, NWFP, has reminded the Awami National Party patron Khan Abdul Wali Khan about his unconditional support to the military regime of Gen Ziaul Haq for a minor share in the power.
In a statement, released here on Sunday, the JI leader flayed Wali’s support for the US against Taliban and remarks against the Ulema at a party gathering on Saturday.
He said it was not new on the part of Wali Khan, in the past he had extended support to former Soviet Union occupant army in Afghanistan. At that time, the so-called nationalists sold the Pushtoon to the communist clique and now they were endorsing the air strikes on Afghanistan, the JI leader added.
By using vitriolic language against the Ulema, he said, Wali Khan had tried to please the US administration and Gen Pervez Musharraf. But, the valiant people of Frontier province would once again wage a Jihad against the invaders, he said.
He said Taliban had provided a peaceful atmosphere to the people in Afghanistan.
NAPP: Criticizing the remarks of ANP Rahbar-i-Tehrik Khan Abdul Wali Khan about the Taliban government and equating Jihad in Afghanistan with disturbance, the president of National Awami Party Pakistan (NAPP), Bajaur chapter, Bacha Gul, has said that the hostile commentary proved that he had no sympathy with Pakhtoons or the people of Afghanistan, our Bajaur correspondent adds.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, he alleged that the ANP leader desperately tried to gain the sympathy of government by praising its policies only for the sake of Azam Khan Hoti.
