Oman teams to appear in City Games

KARACHI, Oct 13: Four teams from Oman are expected to feature in the Karachi City Games being held here early next year, says a news release of Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) Saturday.

His Excellency Osama bin Jamili, Consul General of Oman, gave this assurance at a reception hosted by SOA in honor of newly elected City Nazim and Naib Nazim on Friday.

The Omani diplomat announced that football, table tennis, basketball and volleyball teams would compete in the City Games.

Speaking on the occasion, Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan said since assuming the role it was his desire to revive the sporting activities in the city. The proposed City Games are part of his plans to uplift the sports, he said.

He pointed out that there used to be couple of players in every Pakistan team in the past but due to turmoil and law and order problem, the standard of sports in the city has gone down.—APP
