Rs2.5m dacoity in hosiery unit

FAISALABAD, Oct 13: Dacoits took away valuables worth Rs2.5 million from a hosiery unit in Khurrianwala, about 15 kilometres from here, on Friday night.

Six masked men stormed into the G. M. Enterprises and took the watchman hostage at gunpoint. They collected sewing machines worth Rs1.5 million, cloth, computers, fax machine, and other valuables worth Rs1 million and escaped with the booty.

Khurrianwala police have registered a case.

DISMISSED FROM SERVICE: Two police constables, Zaheer Afzal and Arshad, were dismissed from service by the city SP on charge of dereliction of duty.

NAZIM ARRESTED: The D-Type Colony police have arrested a union council Nazim on Saturday for presenting bogus matriculation certificate in election documents.

Rana Rasool was elected Nazim from union council No 254. Police received a complaint that he had presented a bogus matriculation certificate which was confirmed by the authorities concerned.

He was arrested on Saturday when a local court dismissed his bail application.
