MIRPURKHAS, Oct 13: The growers and landlords of Sindhri sub- division at a meeting held on Saturday strongly opposed the rotation programme announced by Irrigation Department, Mithrao division for closing the distributaries of the sub-division with the closure of the distributaries of Sanghar sub-division.

The meeting of the growers convened by SDO Sindhri Ghulam Mustafa Ujjan in Sindhri demanded that their sub-division should be included in rotation programme with Samaro sub-division.

SDO Ghulam Mustafa Ujjan formed five-member committee comprising growers of distributaries of Doso, Palli, Saifal, Hingorno and Sindhri to run the system smoothly.

HBFC DRIVE: House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC) district Mirpurkhas and Mithi has chalked out a plan to launch operation against defaulters for speedy recovery of stuck up loans of Rs70 million.

Warrants would be issued against the defaulters because the time limit given to them for clearing the dues had expired.

Earlier, HBFC Mirpurkhas had recovered the dues of Rs4 million from defaulters after issuing 79 warrants of arrest. Several defaulters were detained and released after they paid the dues.

DEMO: Employees of Education Works Department Mirpurkhas staged protest demonstration here on Saturday to protest the reduction of the employees of their department following merger of Education Works Department into Works and Services Department.

They demanded higher autho-rities to ensure provision of sufficient employees in Education Works Department to avoid inconvenience as a result of shortage of staff.

EMBEZZLEMENT: The statements of Khaleeq Askari, DSP, and Zarar Khan, ex-DSP, in the inquiry into the embezzlement of funds pertaining to the office of Mirpurkhas SSP were recorded at the office of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) here.

It is alleged that some SSPs, DSPs and an accountant of Mirpurkhas SSP office are involved in the misappropriation of Rs60 million of police funds.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment, Mirpurkhas, is conducting the inquiry.

DSPs Raja Fazal-ur-Rehman and Yaqoob Almani and ex-accountant of SSP office Arbab Soomro had already recorded their statements.

ROBBED: The passengers of a coach were deprived of cash and valuable at Mirpurkhas-Khipro road on Thursday.

A Karachi bound AC Saba Coach was on its way to Mirpurkhas from Khipro town when three armed bandits travelling in the same bus as passengers suddenly stood up, held all the passengers and staff of coach hostage on gunpoint and looted them.

COMMITTEE: The government of Sindh has set up an advisory committee for Mirpurkhas district to monitor wealth assessment. The committee will comprise DCO Mirpurkhas Mir Hussain Ali, district Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani, Abdul Khaliq Khan, president of Mirpurkhas Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Excise and Taxation Officer, Mirpurkhas.

INJURED: A villager was seriously injured in a clash over a dispute of children the other day near Jhuddo town.

Mohammad Bachal Machhi was seriously injured when accused Khair Mohammad, Usman and Ms Rashida allegedly attacked him with axes.

He was admitted to Jhuddo hospital.
