No action taken yet against Jaish: official

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 13: An official of Jaish-i-Mohammad, whose assets were frozen by the US on Friday, said on Saturday that he had only read it in newspapers, and added that no action had been taken by Pakistan against the organization.

Talking to Dawn by telephone from the organization’s headquarters in Bahawalpur, the official, who preferred not to be named, said that Jaish had so far not received any intimation.

Asked to comment on whether its accounts had been frozen by Pakistan banks on Saturday, in line with the US State Department’s decision, the official replied in the negative.

Asked whether there was any restriction on collecting donations, he said everything was so far normal.

Replying to a question, he said that Maulana Masood Azhar was at present not in Bahawalpur.
