KARACHI: New train for Lahore from tomorrow

KARACHI, Oct 13: The newly-introduced ‘Lahore Express’ will start running between Karachi and Lahore on Oct 15 after its formal inauguration here on Monday.

The divisional superintendent, Karachi, Abdul Wahab Awan, will inaugurate the train with other officers at 6.30am.

Later, at 8.30am, the divisional superintendent will also inaugurate the formal operation of “Shalimar Express”, which will run between Karachi and Multan.

The DS said that 27-Up Lahore Express will depart from the Cantonment Station at 6.30am and reach Lahore same day at 10.30pm.

The 105-Up Shalimar Express will also depart from the Cantt station at 8.30am and reach Multan the same day at 9.40pm.

He said that earlier the Shalimar was being operated between Karachi and Lahore but after its replacement with the Lahore Express, Shalimar would cater to the growing passenger traffic for Multan.

The Lahore Express will be composed of nine economy coaches, two parlour cars and two lower AC coaches besides a dining car and a power van.

The Shalimar Express will be composed of six economy class coaches, one parlour car and one lower AC coach besides a power van.

Reservation of seats in these trains had begun on Oct 1.

The DS said he hoped that the introduction of the train and realignment of Shalimar’s route will help cope with the passenger traffic and bring profitability to the railways.—APP
