HUB, Oct 11: The fate of about 300 workers of Polypropylene Industry run by the Fauji Foundation Pakistan (FFP) is still hanging in the balance, as the workers continued on Thursday their protest sit-in at the premises of the factory.
The workers, who have been peaceful so far, demanded payment of one plus four of their basic salaries per year, including their legal dues if the management of the industry had decided to close down the factory.
They were of the view that whenever an industry had decided to close down its operations, they offered their workers a golden handshake scheme in which the workers were provided their legal dues, including one plus four of the basic salaries.
The management of the factory said they were ready to pay the workers their all-legal dues, including 20,000 as an extra amount.
The Hub tehsil Nazim, Jamil Gichki, invited the Lasbela district Nazim, Jam Kamal Khan, for a peaceful solution to the issue.
Khan met the parties and heard their views individually. The representatives of the workers told him that they had just demanded their genuine rights and it was necessary for the management to pay them their dues.
The district Nazim told the workers that the management had asked him for giving him two days for discussing the matter with their higher authorities, and appealed to the workers to remain peaceful during that period.
The workers accepted the request and assured him of remaining peaceful.
