Sui Gas fight back

LAHORE, Oct 10: Sui Gas fought back magnificently to leave their Patron’s Trophy Grade-I match against defending champions Pakistan Customs delicately poised on the second day at Gaddafi  Stadium Wednesday.

In all, 13 wickets fell on Wednesday as against 12 on the opening day.

It is very much on the cards that this match is set for an early finish. The previous matches this season had also been decided inside three days.

Having conceded a first innings lead of 43, Sui Gas pace duo of Azhar Abbas and the in-form Abdur Rauf reduced Customs to 50 for five in their second innings in the post-tea session. Customs are in front by just 93 runs.

Azhar Abbas claimed three for 11 and Abdur Rauf two for 34.

For the second time in the match, ex-Test opener Shadab Kabir failed to open his account, falling in the first over of the innings. On both occasions, it was Abdur Rauf who sent him on his way, this time clean bowling him with the third ball.

Only opener Kashif Siddique and all-rounder Azhar Shafiq were able to make two-digit scores.

Earlier, Sui Gas resumed at nine for two and were soon in trouble against left-arm pacer Waqar Ahmed, who captured five for 47 and Azhar Shafiq (three for 48).
