38 checkposts set up along Balochistan border: Dacoits’ movement to be checked

LARKANA, Oct 10: To keep a vigil on the movements of dacoits and curb their activities, 38 checkposts have been set up along with the borders with Balochistan in Jacobabad district.

This was stated by Sardar Fayyaz Ahmad Khan Leghari, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana range, while talking to Dawn here on Wednesday. He said the Frontier Constabulary (FC) and police, are deployed on these border checkposts jointly from zero point to Garhi Khairoo area adding that 12 platoons of FC having the strength of 418 personnel were guarding these posts. Also two platoons of FC were deployed in Larkana district to check bandits activities.

“We have also concentrated on the ‘kutcha’ area in Larkana division” said the DIG and for the very purpose 12 mobiles have been deployed to patrol alongside the flood protective bunds falling in the jurisdiction of Larkana range.

These arrangements were in addition to the already existing 19 kutcha police stations in the entire range with a strength of 950 personnel. Replying to a question, the DIG said to ensure the highway security 72 pickets in the whole division have established with the strength of 352 personnel and they had been asked to patrol for whole the night without any break. He said anti-dacoits operation on a small scale continues in the division and the efforts put in so far bore results in the shape of the arrest of 30 dacoits, 100 proclaimed offenders and absconders including Deedar, Bello and Saleh Teghani involved in attacking and killing policemen in Shikarpur. He said during these operations 90 harbourers who had been providing shelter and food to the known gangs of dacoits in Larkana, Shikarpur and Jacobabad had been netted in while many had gone underground to escape arrest in the wake of extensive operation against them.

The harbourers arrested included — Mehboo Ali Buriro, Abdul Latif Ghanghro, Aago Samijo, Abdul Hameed Banglani, Sharif Barach, Roshan Ali Narejo, Abdul Sattar Narejo, Nisar Ahmed Narejo, Noor Ahmed Magsi, Ali Sher Jakhrani, Ali Bagh Nandwani, Aarab Shar, Qaim Chachar, Mohrram Sabzoi, Raza Muhammed Khoso and Gul Bahar Aarijo.

SUICIDE: A night watch man Abdul Majid Jarwar on early Wednesday committed suicide in Kausar mills area by shooting himself with his own gun. The reports say he grew frustrated after his low income and disturbed domestic affairs, which led to the tragic death of the man.

ASI DEMOTED: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana, after reverting an ASI Abdul Qadir Oghani to the rank of head constable, sent him behind bars in the wake of an inquiry against him. One Ghulam Hussain Shaikh resident of Khanpur approached the DIG against the excesses and highhandedness of the ASI who had broken into his house, maltreated the women folk and took away gold and cash Rs:25,000. The DIG appointed ASP Shikaprur Muhammed Salim to probe into the allegations. The ASI misbehaved with the inquiry officer and even issued threats of dire consequences to the complainant in his presence.

The ASP submitting the report said the allegations levelled against him (ASI) were proved. The DIG demoted and sent him behind bars and ordered for further departmental investigations against him.
