MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 10: The AJK government is considering lifting the ban on timber-felling at a limited scale to provide room for inevitable cutting of spare trees on the one hand and create employment opportunities for the people associated with this trade on the other.

This was stated by Mufti Mansoor-ur-Rehman, minister for forests, agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism, wildlife and Azad Kashmir Logging and Sawmills Corporation (AKLASC), at a news conference here on Wednesday.

The forests were a major source of income for the AJK government and the government was taking result-oriented steps to protect that natural wealth, he said.
