Pakistani Canadians back war on terrorism

TORONTO, Oct 10: Canadians of Pakistani origin held a meeting in Mississauga recently and supported the war against terrorism.

They also adopted the following resolution:

Be it resolved that:

1. Canadians of Pakistani origin fully support the stand of the government of Pakistan under the leadership of President General Pervez Musharraf to cooperate, assist and support the United States of America and its allies in their fight against global terrorism.

2. We recognize and support the governments of Canada and United States of America for lifting the economic sanctions imposed on Pakistan that will strengthen the cause to fight terrorism and strengthen Pakistan’s ties with its allies.

3. We express our concern that innocent civilians may suffer in the fight against terrorism. We hope that any military action in this regard will be taken very prudently to avoid any civilian casualties.

4. Canadians of Pakistani origin stand behind all actions taken or would be taken by government of Canada in pursuance of their objectives against terrorism. Our community is totally committed to international harmony and communal unity and will support ongoing dialogue for effective implementation of all actions and initiatives of government of Canada.
