KARACHI: KDA pipe factory to reopen on 15th

KARACHI, Oct 10: KDA pipe factory which remained closed for the one-and-a-half years will re-open on Oct 15 to manufacture over 7,200 pipes of 84 and 86-inch dia for the KWSB’s 100 million gallons Greater Karachi Water Supply Scheme (Phase- V), Stage-II, called K-3.

An agreement to provide pipes to the KWSB for undertaking the K-3 project whereby the city will get an additional 100 mgd of water was signed here on Wednesday by KWSB’s managing director Brig Behram Khan and KDA’s director-general Brig (Retd) Zaheer Quadri at a meeting held at the KWSB head office.

The meeting was informed that the KDA had deployed about 100 employees at its pipe factory for starting production of the pipes from Oct 15.

The KDA pipe factory would manufacture 5750 pipes of 84-inch dia and another 1480 pipes of 86-inch dia for the KWSB at an estimated cost of Rs 460 million.

Meanwhile, the KWSB sources said that the process for undertaking the K-3 project had already been initiated following the federal government gave its green signal to the project.
