63 invited for U-19 trials


LAHORE, Oct 9: Paksitan Cricket Board (PCB) Tuesday announced the names of 63 players to appear in national under-19 trials to be held in two phases at Gadaffi Stadium.

According to a spokesman of the PCB the players have been put in two batches for trials.

The first batch of 31 players will appear in trials on Oct 18-19, 2001 while the second batch of 32 players will take part in the trials on Oct 20-21.

Following are the of the players of the 1st batch:

Salman Butt, Khaqan Arsal, Hafiz Bilal,Wahab Riaz, Arslan Mir, Zulqarnain Haider (Lahore), Kamran Younis, Asim Munir Butt, Atiq ur Rehman (Gujranwala), Muhammad Fayyaz, Aftab Ahmed Khan, Dilawar Khan, Abdul Nasir (Peshawar), Hilal Afridi (Fata), Wajid Ali, Irfanuddin, Sharif Asadullah, Aminu Rehman (Karachi), Asif Iqbal, Mubasshir Ali, Rana Kashif (Bahawalpur), Muhammad Umair (Multan), Syed Rehan (Mirpurkhas), Javed Hussain, Yasin (Sheikhupura), Talat Hussain,Muhammad Altaf (Islamabad), Mohsin Raza (Sukkur), Sohrab Aslam (AJK), Manzoor Ahmed (Quetta), Munir Ansari (Rawalpindi).

Peshawar faces Lahore Blues in the final of the National Under-19 Grade- I cricket championship starting Wednesday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The 13 member PDCA team left for Rawalpindi Tuesday with three seamers, two spinners one alrounder and seven specialist batsmen.

Peshawar has topped the group-B after registering an innings and 61 runs victory against Bahawalpur in the semifinal while Lahore (Blues) defeated Karachi (Whites) in the semifinal.—APP
