PBG, Bahria emerge winners

RAWALPINDI, Oct 9: President’s Bodyguards and Bahria Town scored impressive victories on the opening day of PC Cup Polo Tournament at Rawalpindi Polo Club on Tuesday.

President’s Body Guards defeated PAF by seven goals to four and half while Bahria Town (pvt) Ltd. beat ASC by seven and half goals to five.

Hassan Jaffer Khan slammed home a hat-trick for President’s Bodyguards, scoring his goals in the second and third chakkars.

In the first chakkar, Maj. Kamran Aslam and Sawar Malhi Khan were on target for President’s Bodyguards while Taimur Mawaz struck twice in the fourth and last chakkar.

Lt Col Raja Nadeem was twice successful in the first and second chakkars while Sqd Ldr Haider Ali Shah scored one goal in the first chakkar for PAF who had one and half goal advantage.

Tariq Khan Afridi and Arsalan Najeeb were the umpires of the match.

In the second match, Atif Khan had three goals while C.Tech Tauheed Ahmed had two goals for Bahria Town who took to the field with a one and half goal advantage.Arsalan Najeeb scored the remaining goal.

For ASC, Dafedar Ahmed Khan and Lt. Col. Shoaib Aftab scored twice while Brig. Sikander Ali completed the tally with a beautiful back-handed goal.

The matches in the PC Cup will now be played on Thursday and Saturday while low-goal tournament at Rawalpindi begins on Wednesday.

The matches in the low-goal tournament will be played later on Friday and Sunday.—APP
