KARACHI, Oct 9: Admissions in Masters programme at various departments of Karachi University would commence from Oct 15, and admission forms would be available and could be deposited back up to the 25th.
Chairman of the KU admissions committee said on Tuesday that admissions in 34 different departments of Arts, Science, Islamic Learning, Pharmacy and Commerce faculties would be granted on the basis of merit and list of successful candidates would be placed on Nov 8.
Admissions in the departments of Applied Physics, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Computer Science, Health and Physical Education, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Special Education, Industrial Designing, Visual Studies and Women Studies are being announced separately by these departments, he said and added that pre-admission tests are mandatory for all applicants to these departments.
He said that forms for admissions in Masters programme would be available from Oct 15, at the UBL branches of Nazimabad (Chowrangi), Bahadurabad, Malir Township (Near Tanki), New Karachi, Baitul Mukarram Masjid branch at University Road, Hyderi, Hamid Square, Drigh Colony, Landhi Township, Binnori Town and Kharadar branches and would be received back at the same UBL branches up to Oct 25.
BBA, MBA: Admissions in Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) and Master of Business Administration at the department of Business Administration, Karachi University, will commence from Oct 12.
Admission forms would be available up to Oct 23, from the UBL counter at the main KU Silver Jubilee gate, UBL Clifton Branch and UBL Hamid Square Branch and could be submitted back at the same venues.
The prerequisite admission test would be held on Nov 4, at STA ground and KU gym-nasium for both BBA and MBA programmes.
Computer Science: Admissions at the Karachi University department of Computer Science in B.S. for the 2001-2002 academic session will commence from Oct 15.
Admission forms would be available at the UBL counter at the main KU Silver Jubilee gate, UBL Hamid Square Branch and UBL Bait-ul-Mukarram Branch from Oct 15, and could be submitted back at the KU Silver Jubilee gate up to Oct 22.
Candidates having HSC with Mathematics or Diploma of Associate Engineering in mechanical or electronics with at least 55 per cent are eligible to apply for admissions in the department, he said and added that admissions would also be granted on donor seats.
Admissions on both merit and donor seats would be granted on the basis of pre-admission entry tests, he added.
RESULTS: The examinations department of the Karachi University has announced the results of Diploma in Clinical Neurology Annual Examinations 2001.
According to the results announced on Tuesday, candidates bearing seat nos 101, 102, 103, 107, 110, 112, 115 and 116 were declared successful in the exams.
Student’s week: The students’ week programmes at the Karachi University, postponed earlier, are starting from Oct 10, said a spokesman.
All programmes and events related to the week, which would conclude on Oct 13, would be held after 11am. A Mushaira, to be presided over by the KU vice chancellor, would be held on Oct 10, while Mubahesa (debate), photo exhibition and Ru-Baru would be held on Oct 11, 12 and 13, respectively, added the KU spokesman.
New registrar: Vice Chancellor, Karachi University, Dr Zafar S. Saify, has appointed Prof Dr S.M. Aqil Burney as the new KU Registrar.
