KARACHI, Oct 9: A meeting of the All-Parties Conference has condemned US aggression on Afghanistan without any proof and stated that in this crucial hour, irrespective of the stand of the Pakistan government, the entire nation is with Millat-i- Afghanistan.
The APC moot, held under the auspices of Jamaat-i-Islami, on Tuesday, at Idara Noor-i-Haq with Prof Ghafoor Ahmad in the chair, expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of lives of women and children in Afghanistan and expressed solidarity with the Afghan people.
In a resolution adopted on the occasion, the conference declared that the act of extending cooperation and facilitation to the US for attacking Afghanistan by the government of Pakistan was one of bargaining over national interests and contrary to the feelings of the Ummah, particularly the feelings of the people of Pakistan. The meeting warned the Pakistan government against becoming a tool of the US and to review its policy and withdraw the decision of backing the US.
The meeting also made it clear to the US government that without concrete proof and witnesses, attacks on Afghanistan were nothing but enmity against Muslims and as a corollary of this act, the US would have to face the ire and reaction of Muslims all over the world. “Therefore, it is our unanimous demand that the US and her allies should immediately stop attacks on Afghanistan.”
The APC also criticized PTV and demanded that the state- controlled media should project the true feelings and sentiments of the Ummah, instead of misguiding the people by projecting the US stance.
Concurring the need to check terrorism, the conference demanded removal of the cause of terrorism. The APC was of the opinion that US action against Afghanistan, under the cover of terrorism, was in fact Jewish designs against the Muslim Ummah. The Western media and Jewish lobby, soon after the incident, had started misleading the world public opinion and despite condemnation by Muslims the world over, they along with Pakistanis, Islamic centres and mosques were being targeted in the US and veiled women harassed, it was observed.
The APC leaders pledged that in view of the grave threats to the country, they would maintain unity and solidarity for the security and survival of the country and would not hesitate to offer any sacrifice for the same.
Earlier, brushing aside chances of involvement of Osama bin Laden in attacks on the US, Prof Ghafoor said that it was a well-engineered crime and could never have been done by the Afghans who did not have enough resources to commit such acts, adds PPI.
“The American defence ministry has also accepted that the evidence is enough to lodge a case but not sufficient to provide grounds to attack somebody or a country,” he recalled.
Accusing the present military government, he observed that he had seen all three previous martial laws in the country but in the current one people were accusing the army of wrongdoings which had never happened in the previous three.
The vice president of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), Mian Ejaz Shafee, addressing the APC, asked the US government that on what grounds it was accusing Osama and quoted slogans of Western countries that “No one is guilty unless he is pronounced guilty”. He argued that if they have any clear proof, they must present it in the courts.
He expressed the view that elected representatives were the only ones who could bring the nation out of crisis and demanded restoration of democracy.
General secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Meraj Mohammad Khan, strongly condemned the US attacks on Afghanistan and demanded their immediate halt.
Vice president Tehreek-i-Jafariya Pakistan, Allama Hasan Turrabi, said that they have miserably failed to demonstrate their hatred against America and to register their protest. Pakistan, from the very first day of its creation, wanted to keep good relations with America but unfortunately, the friendship has trapped Pakistan in debts, he added.
General secretary of the Mohajir Quami Movement, Amir Khan, felt the need for a united Muslim world and referred to some verses from the Holy Quran to support his arguments. He said that Muslims need to possess strong faith in God. He offered full support on behalf of his party to halt the war imposed on Afghanistan.
Amin Khattak of the Awami National Party said that history is witness to the fact that Afghans have never accepted foreign-imposed governments and cited various incidents which have taken place in Afghanistan.
The APC resolved to work together for the prime cause of preventing Muslims, keeping aside all past differences among them and vowed to offer sacrifice for the cause.
