Thousands ready to join Taliban, says JUI

KOHAT, Oct 8: Leaders of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam have criticized the government for putting their chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman under house arrest and said that thousands of Mujahideen are ready to join the Taliban forces.

Former JUI MNA Maulana Naimatullah, Maulana Azizur Rehman, Maulana Abdullah and Maulana Amin, in a joint statement, said the government was afraid of the religious leaders who wanted to save the Muslims from the exploitation by the US in the name of war against terror.

They warned that through its military action, the US wanted to establish its rule in the region.

He said the government decision to detain Maulana Fazl was an anti-Islam act.
