NOWSHERA, Oct 8: Criticizing the idea presented by British Prime Minister Tony Blair that Pakhtoons will be made part of a broad-based government in Afghanistan in the event of Taliban’s ouster from power, Mohammad Afzal Khan Lala, chief of the Pakhtonkhwa Qaumi Party, said the plan would not work as the majority of Taliban is Pakhtoons.
The elderly politician, who has been raising his voice for the rights of Pakhtoons on both sides of the Durand Line, was talking to local journalists here on Sunday.
Afzal Khan Lala said that if Tony Blair had said that other Afghan ethnic groups would also be included in the broad-based government, it might have sounded sensible because Pakhtoons have always been in power in Kabul.
He termed the plan of broad-based government in the post Taliban scenario a farce, saying that the conspiracy to divide Afghanistan would never materialize.
