By Our Correspondent

BADIN, Oct 6: The body of Ghulam Ali Khaskheli (25), a victim of Badin police excesses, was recovered from the Rohri Canal, near Sarari village, Nawabshah District, on Friday.

Mr Khaskheli had gone missing some days ago. After strong protest by the people and on the strict instructions of senior Sindh government officials, a team led by the DSP, Matli, and the SHO, Matli, was formed to recover Khaskheli’s body.

On Thursday, the team started looking for his body. Divers were called from Tando Muhammad Khan. They were able to recover his body.

It was learnt that Mr Khaskheli was tortured to death and later his body was thrown into the canal.

Mr Khaskheli’s body was taken to Matli for a post-mortem. A three-member team of doctors conducted the post-mortem. The team confirmed that the cause of death of the deceased was suffocation and injuries on the chest and arms.
