Karo-kari claims four lives

SUKKUR, Oct 6: Four people were killed in the name of Karo- kari in Sukkur and Larkana in the past 36.

A woman, Anwer Khatoon, 50, and her daughter, Nasima, 20, were gunned down by armed men in Mirpur Mathelo on Friday night.

The killers threw their bodies in the Indus River. The bodies were recovered from the river near Kandh Kot.

Raza Mohammad Sundrani, husband of Anwer Khatoon, lodged a double-murder case against seven people, but had been arrested till the filing of this report.

Those booked were named as Manool, Sadiq, Ahmed, Abdul Ghani, Mohammad Malook, Tillan and Vesdeo.

Our Larkana correspondent adds: Talib Gopang killed his daughter, Zahida Gopang, 15, and wounded a man, Mohammed Panah Awan, in the name of Karo-kari in the Jamal Gopang village here on Saturday.

Talib surrendered himself to the Mirokhan police.
