Day-long power failure hits Mirpurkhas


MIRPURKHAS, Oct 6: The people of Mirpurkhas division braved on Saturday 13-hour long power breakdown which adversely affected the business and routine life activities.

According to Wapda officials, a fault occurred in 132 KV high tension line between the Hala grid station and Mirpurkhas and as a result power supply to Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar districts had to be suspended.

The areas hit by the power failure in hot weather included Mirpurkhas, Mirwah, Tando Jan Mohammad, Kunri, Umerkot, Soji, Shadi Pali, Dhoro Naro, Pithoro and Bachao Bund.

Water supply to Mirpurkhas City was also disrupted during power failure.

Emergency operations in private and government hospitals were also suspended and industries were closed, reports our correspondent.
