KHAIRPUR, Oct 6: The sanitation staff of the Therhi town committee staged a demonstration here on Saturday against the non-payment of their salaries for last five months.

As the staff boycotted their duties throughout the day, sewage accumulated on the National Highway at Therhi and caused a great hardships for motorists.

The protesters demanded immediate payment of their salaries.

KILLED: A girl, identified as Qadeeran Nawaz Gopang, died a speeding tractor ran over her near Sobhodero on Friday. The Agra police arrested the tractor driver.

POWER SUPPLY: The power supply to a trading centre and the Thari Mirwah taluka headquarter remained disconnected on third consecutive day on Saturday.

Routine works at the centre, offices, schools, hospitals and other public places were affected badly.

THEFT CASE: Following the theft of Rs17,552 from the accounts office of the SSP two days back, two constables of the office and a peon were handed over to the A-section police for interrogation on Saturday.
