DERA ISMAIL KHAN: No drive yet to eliminate stray dogs

By Our Correspondent

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Oct 6: Stray dogs have become a nuisance for the people here.

Dogbite cases are referred to the District Headquarters Teaching Hospital everyday.

During August and September, there were about 88 such cases. Although, the required vaccine, ARV, is supplied to district health offices and to hospitals, even then sometimes relatives of patients are reportedly told that, since the vaccine is not available, they must purchase it at the market.

No campaign has been launched by the municipal committee for the last many years to eliminate the stray dogs, whose number has since been multiplying.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified man was recovered from a field at Wanda Hissan in the jurisdiction of Saddar police here on Saturday.

According to sources, Malik Habib Khan and two farm workers, Shah Jehan and Subedar, heard gunshots on Friday night, but they could not determine the direction of the fire.

In the morning, they found a body lying in the fields. A string of rosary and a 30-bore pistol with five live bullets were also recovered from the spot.

The police registered a case under section 302 PPC.
