MULTAN, Oct 2: The Bahauddin Zakaria University has to postpone announcement of the BA/BSc first annual, 2001, results due to some undisclosed reasons.

Sources in the controller of examinations office told this correspondent that arrangements had been finalized to declare the results on Oct 3 and invitations for media coverage of the event had also been printed. But in the nick of time, the controller informed the vice-chancellor that the announcement of the results on Oct 3 was not possible due to some problems in the computer section of the examination wing.

When contacted, none of the responsible officials at the controller office was available to comment.

It may be added here that delay in the announcement of BA/BSc results would consequently delay admissions to the MA/MSc classes of the university which, so far, has been the most punctual university of the province as far as its timetable of result declaration is concerned.

TEACHERS: The Bahauddin Zakariya University has engaged seven more teachers for its engineering college to fulfil a condition of the Pakistan Engineering Council for accreditation.

A university press release says the services of Prof Ahmed Saeed Sheikh (consultant), Prof Abdul Hameed (consultant), Dr Fazalur Rehman, Zaheer J Piracha, Bilal Akhtar, Muhammad Hafeez and Muhammad Ibrar have been hired for the college and PEC has been informed about the developments being carried out to upgrade the standard of technical education at the college.

It may be added here that accreditation of the college with the PEC has been pending since its inception in 1994. The present administration of the university is taking serious steps to resolve the issue.

WORKSHOP: The Punjab directorate of agriculture economics and marketing is organizing a one-day workshop on “Mango production, marketing and export” here on Wednesday.
