Commandos deployed to protect police stations: Reprisals by Teghani gang feared

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Oct 2: Security measures have been beefed up to avert any possible reprisal attacks by dacoits on some police stations in Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kashmor and as a precautionary step the authorities have deployed commandos at the police stations of kutcha area.

These step were taken on the directive of DIG Larkana police after threats of some dacoits, following the arrest of their gang members Alam Teghani, Deedar Teghani, Arab Jatoi, and Belo Teghani.

The dacoits had threatened to attack the police stations of Bachal Bhayo, Napar Kot, Chak and Lakhi in Shikarpur and Humayun, Tangwani and Risaldar of Jacobabad district.

These police stations as well as high-ranking police officials of these districts had received letters from the dacoits containing threats of the attacks.

Notorious dacoits Bachlo Teghani, Doso Misrani Jatoi, Munir Misrani Jatoi, Gara Teghani and Ahmed Sanghar are operating in this area and their gangs are reported to be moving to Shah Belo area which is regarded the biggest sanctuary of dacoits in Sindh.

On several occasions police had entered this forest area but every time they failed to confront dacoits and suffered losses. According to a police officer, it is not possible for the police to secure any success against the dreaded dacoits in the kutcha area.

After the recent threats of dacoits to attack the police stations and blow off them, the police is expecting the FC personnel would help them in anti-dacoits operation.

In Jacobabad the FC people are already operating after the ferocious attacks of notorious outlaws from Chakrani clan of Bugti tribe on a a police station.

It has been learnt the four dacoits of Bachlo Teghani gang arrested in Shikarpur have confessed to the police of their involvement in several incidents of killings, kidnappings and dacoities and also organizing attacks on police.

The attacks included one on Gadpur police station personnel, in which seven policemen were killed and ten rangers personnel were injured.

The arrested outlaws have also disclosed the dubious role of some police officers who used to provide them information of police movements which helped the dacoits evade police.

Some temporary pickets have been set up in kutcha area of Lakhi Ghulam Shah from where police had arrested four dacoits of Bachlo Teghani gang.
