QUETTA, Oct 2: The border authorities have taken into custody 40 activists of the Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), who wanted to cross into Afghanistan on Monday to join Taliban forces for fighting against the United States.

Sources said the activists belonging to Quetta and other areas went to Chaman and tried to cross into Afghanistan without any legal documents.

The authorities at the border did not allowed them to enter into Afghanistan. They were taken into custody and sent back to Quetta.—Staff Correspondent
