LAHORE, May 1: District Nazim Mian Amer has directed that a small X-ray machine should be installed at Lahore airport in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority to detect patients carrying Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome virus.
Talking to reporters after inspecting the District Health Development Centre on Poonch Road here on Thursday, the Nazim said no SARS patient had so far been detected in the city.
The Nazim directed the health department to make arrangements for separate rooms and other electro-medical equipment to examine and treat the patients infected with SARS virus.
He also asked the health department to launch an awareness campaign to inform the masses about the symptoms of SARS and its preventive and treatment measures. He said special lectures in this regard should be organized in educational institutions, offices and public places.
