PESHAWAR, May 1: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, welcoming the talks between the opposition and the government over the LFO issue, has said that all the political forces should get united to end the crisis.
“We hope that the government, opposition and other political parties would work jointly to cope with the economic as well as political crisis in the country,” said MMA’s representative, Qazi Abdul Latif, while briefing reporters after the meeting of the MMA supreme council on Thursday.
He said that the supreme council wanted to further strengthen the MMA to cope with the uncertain situation in the country. Mr Latif urged the NWFP cabinet members to cooperate with the opposition parties in order to run the provincial affairs effectively.
“We expect of the ministers to strengthen the bond of brotherhood and cooperation with the members of the opposition parties so that other provinces in the country follow the suit,” he said, adding that the MMA ministers and MPs should serve the people with devotion in order to retain the confidence they had reposed in the MMA.
The meeting held at the provincial headquarters of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Al-Markaz Al-Islami, besides others was also attended by provincial JI chief Senator Ibrahim Khan, Maulana Amanullah, provincial head of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F), Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Owais Qadri and Abdul Salam.
The meeting, Mr Latif said, condemned the US-led aggression against Iraqi people and said that the US and its allies were responsible for pushing the world towards anarchy and terrorism.
The US, should withdraw forces from Iraq and pave way for the UN to undertake the reconstruction process, he said.
