Quarter-final abandoned

KARACHI, Sept 1 Only 11.3 overs of play was possible in the first quarter-final of the 23rd Aga Khan Gymkhana Alokozay Ramazan Twenty20 cricket tournament between A.O. CC and Pak Korangi CC at the AKG Ground here on Wednesday before the game was abandoned because of rain.

According to the organisers, this match will be replayed on Thursday prior to the start of the second quarter-final in the afternoon between Tapal CC and Medicam CC.

In the short period of action on Wednesday, A.O. CC had reached 116-1 after winning the toss and electing to bat. The only casualty being skipper Nadeem Shaikh who scored 42 off 27 balls with the aid of six fours and one six.

Ahmed Shahzad, the discarded Pakistan opening batsman, had made 63 not out when the game ended prematurely. His 40-ball knock contained six boundaries and a brace of sixes.
