KARACHI, April 26: Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, admitted on Saturday that he lost the passion for the game after Pakistan’s recent World Cup debacle.

Speaking at the launching of veteran writer Lateef Jafri’s book ‘History of Pakistan Test Cricket’ at Karachi Gymkhana, the PCB chief remarked: “I was so much disheartened with the performance of Pakistan team in the World Cup that I stopped reading anything on cricket.”

Tauqir appreciated the contents of the book which highlighted Pakistan’s cricket’s early days.

He paid tributes to Mr Lateef Jafri for bringing out a 645-page edition and said he learned lessons from the book.

Former Test batsman Waqar Hasan described Mr Jafri as a honest and dedicated journalist.

Another ex-Test cricketer Salahuddin said effort of Mr Jafri will be written in golden letters.—APP
