HYDERABAD, April 25: A ‘black day’ was observed on Friday in Sindh, including Hyderabad, on the call of the People’s Party Parliamentarians against the Legal Framework Order and the construction of the greater Thal canal.

The Hyderabad city chapter of the PPP took out a rally, which culminated outside the local press club.

The rally was led by the PPP’s central information secretary Taj Hyder, its provincial deputy general secretary, Maula Bux Chandio and MPA Zahid Bhurgari.

Speaking on the occasion, the PPP leaders vowed not to relent in their struggle until the government withdrew the LFO or presented it before the Parliament.

Accusing the government of ridiculing the law of the land as well as the Constitution by way of trying to legitimise LFO, the PPP leaders said that protests would be organised in Sindh for mass mobilisation in this regard.

They said that now head of state in the world had powers to dissolve democratically elected institutions and snatch power at gunpoint, adding that protests would continue until the withdrawal of the LFO.

SUKKUR: The PPP activists, led by MPA Nasrullah Baloch and Anwer Ali Mahar, took out a protest procession against the LFO here on Friday.

The procession began from Station Road and after a march through main roads of the city, ended at the Sukkur Press Club where the participants staged a sit-in and blocked the road for an hour.

LARKANA: The workers of the People’s Party Parliamentarians took out a procession here on Friday to protest against the Legal Framework Order.

Activists of the Sindh Peoples’ Students’ Federation, led by Altaf Abbasi, took out another procession here against the LFO.

A group of the PPP workers from Mirokhan also held a demonstration outside the local press club.

MIRPURKHAS: The PPP workers, including women activists took out a rally here on Friday to protest against the LFO and the construction of the Thal canal.

The rally, which began from the PPP’s local office here, culminated at the Market Chowk, where it turned into a public gathering.

SANGHAR: The PPP activists took out a procession against the LFO and the Thal canal in Shahdadpur.

KHAIRPUR: The PPP on Friday took out a rally to condemn the LFO and the Thal canal.

Protesters, who began their march from the residence of the party’s district president, Sajid Bambhan, culminated at the local press club, where they staged a sit-in. They were raising slogans, including ‘Go Musharraf, Go’ and ‘No Musharraf, no LFO.’

JACOBABAD: An anti-LFO rally was taken out from the local PPP office, which culminated outside the local press club.

Speakers on the occasion, condemned the utterances of President Gen Musharraf against the parliament.

They also rejected the Kalabagh Dam and the Thal canal and called for the restoration of the 1973 Constitution.

THATTA: Activists of the PPP on Friday took out a rally in Thatta. Later, it was converted into a procession against the Shirazi group.

Protesters termed the LFO anti- democratic, saying it would harm the functioning of the government in the future.

Protesters also staged an hour-long sit-in outside the local press club.

SHIKARPUR: Activists of the PPP, the Sindh People’s Students and the People’s Lawyers’ Forum on Friday took out a protest rally against the LFO and the Thal canal.

DADU: A large number of PPP activists took out an anti-LFO rally that culminated at the local press club.

NAWABSHAH: Activists of the PPP on Friday staged a rally against LFO.
