Councillor granted bail

TOBA TEK SINGH, April 25: A civil judge of Kamalia ordered on Thursday release of a woman councillor.

Councillor Salma Parveen was arrested on Wednesday night by Kamalia Saddar police on the complaint of medical officer Dr Rao Khalil Ahmad of the rural health centre, Chak No 740 GB.

The councillor had allegedly threatened the doctor of dire consequences.

PESTS ATTACK: Agriculture department experts have warned that the cotton crop might be attacked by American bollworm.

This was stated by district office (agriculture) Mian Shafiq Muhammad on Thursday.

Speaking at a seminar, he said during a survey, many American bollworms’ nurseries were seen in the fields where gram crop was harvested. The experts feared that after growing further it might attack cotton crop plants.

Quoting experts he advised the farmers to immediately plough their fields and burn all remains of gram crop. — Correspondent
